The faculty records relate to matters regarding curriculum, self-governance, administration functions and student discipline. They date from 1894 through 1909.

He writes to his mother about about his studies of natural philosphy and mechanics and states his interest in his siblings education. To his sister he describes the birth of the first camous literay serial/news organ at the University of Georgia, the "Georgian Collegian", and speaks of the presence of illness on campus in late February of 1870. He writes to his brother asking to resolve an issue regarding two books he mailed money for but never recieved. The collection also includes printed scans of the "History of Stewart County Georgia" and a compiled service record of Confederate soldiers who served in organizations from Georgia.

A volume of pasted clippings on Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, and national history. It includes some of the sketches of Athens, 1865-1875, which were printed in the local paper by A. L. Hill, who later published them as Annals of Athens. There are other articles, some by George G. Smith on early Georgia history, much about the Revolution and national history, includes a list of prisoners kept in Fort at St. Augustine by British in 1780, rolls of soldiers, 1775, from South Carolina, and some articles concerning early Baptists.

The collection is two letters regarding the donation of the Flisch family Bible. The bible was presented to the University of Georgia Libraries by Julia A. Flisch, July 5, 1940. Lenoir and Red and Black student editor Walter Lundy, both of whom resigned positions at the university due to the school's resistance to desegregation. This collection contains letters, dated September 5-November 12, 1862, written by Chapman in Canada to his wife Caroline at home in Brookyn, New York. In the letters, Chapman tells her of his lodgings, his attempts to support himself by selling maps and books, his thoughts on the war, and his advice on how to manage the household and finances. He also describes getting his passport and the steamboat trip to Canada. By reading newspapers, he is able to keep up with the draft news. The last two letters are written from Vermont as Chapman prepares to come home.

note While the chronological bulk of the records from the Frederick C. Davison Papers covers his tenure as President of the University of Georgia from 1967 to 1986, there are also documents to be found in the papers dating from as early as 1937 and as recently as 1988. The broad groupings within the Davison papers do not break geographically into cohesive series, beyond certain interactions with entities such as the university system Board of Regents, but it is fair to characterize several broad subject categories as series by virtue of the volume of records present in the accession. Frederick C. Marland is a retired professor from the University of Georgia Marine Science Institute located in Sapelo Island, Georgia. He worked closely with Reid Harris and other Georgia legislators to write the technical portions of the Coastal Marshlands Protection Act of 1970, and later the Shore Act of 1979. These papers consist of his collected ecological research, material on marine development, promotional information about coastal areas, and a large collection of annotated maps.

The collection consists of photographs of family members and military friends of Frederick W. Benteen. His commission paper is included as well. It is dated 1864 November 23 and commissions him to brigadier general. Also includes is a bound, gilt-edged album of religious pictures; the folded American flag that draped the coffin of Mrs. Anita Benteen Mitchell), Benteen's graddaughter, in 1978; and a tattered American flag that appears to be a 10th Missouri Cavalry flag, flown during the Civil War and was donated after the initial gift in 1973.

The collection consists of papers of Frederick William Benteen from 1833-1951. The collection contains a variety of material mainly relating to Benteen's service in the 7th U.S. Cavalry and, in particular, his involvement in the Battle of Little Big Horn. Includes correspondence (1871-1888) from Benteen in the Montana territory, Kansas, and Nebraska, to his wife, Catherine L. Benteen; a map drawn by Benteen of the Little Big Horn battlefield; some official military documents including the draft and revised draft (July 4, 1876) of Major Marcus A. Reno regarding George A. Custer and the Battle of Little Big Horn; and numerous photographs of members of the 7th Cavalry, military groups and locations, including Ft. Dodge, Kansas (1868-1869), Native American leaders, and several of the Benteen family. The collection also contains some military documents relating to Benteen's service in the 10th Missouri Volunteer Cavalry during the Civil War; photocopies of correspondence from Benteen to Theodore W. Goldin regarding the 7th Cavalry; "Cavalry Scraps", articles written by Benteen regarding his cavalry service; correspondence (1929-1949) between E.A. Brinistool and various members of the Benteen family; newspaper clippings; printed material; and a scrapbook.

The collection documents the business transactions of the Union City Realty & Trust Co., and Consolidated Trust Co., its owners and major investors: John A. Phillips, J. H. Harris, Ida Harris, Mrs. M. E. Phillips; their creditors, partners, and many legal transactions. It proves an interesting perspective on the founding of Union City by land speculators complete with ad campaign promotions and possibly exploitations. The collection is comprised of correspondence, affidavits, depositions, land grant copies, land surveys, bonds, deeds, abstracts of titles, mortgages, court summons, petitions, settlements, judgements, FiFa's, promissory notes, accounts, receipts, stock certificates, news clippings, business cards, a will and a broadside. The greatest concentration of material is within the 1870-1911 period.

The collection consists of two notebooks kept by Prosper Jules Alphonse Berckmans of Fruitland Nurseries (Augusta, Georgia) from 1861-1915. Volume 1 contains drawings of grapes and grape leaves, some partly in watercolor; for some varieties, handwritten notes identify southern growers as Berckmans' source, including Dr. A.P. Wylie, G. Speth, J.A. Rion, and Dr. S.J. Kenworthy. The volume also includes newspaper clippings and letters from other growers. Volume 2 includes drawings of peaches, apples, pears, plums, oranges, tangerines, strawberries and pecans; and clippings, advertisements for nurseries, and letters from growers.
