The Van Giesen Family Collection contains the manuscript materials of the Uriah Van Giesen family of Savannah. The collection includes correspondence, legal documents, clippings, etc. of the extended family, but the bulk of the collection relates to Van Giesen's service to the Confederacy in Company B, 2nd Georgia Battalion. His diary, correspondence and military papers detail his service until 1864 when he was discharged because of chronic hepatitis. Also included are some materials of Van Giesen's son Frank S. Van Giesen, a broker and magistrate also of Savannah. Some materials in the collection relate to the Ancker family (the family of F.S. Van Giesen's wife, Carrie).

The collection consists of biographical information, correspondence, writings, research, and photographs. Majette's only published work (1924) was White Blood, which dealt with race relations. Mistress of a Thousand Slaves is based on the life of Fanny Kemble. Research for the book includes a letter written by Fanny Kemble. Daughters of Men is about Indian tribes on the Sea Islands when the Spanish first came to Georgia. Please God... closely follows Majette's life story. Her writings also include children's stories and poems, some of which are in a scrapbook she made for her granddaughter in 1929.

It has correspondence between Francis G. Clark and Bessie Vaughn Clark during their college courtship and through the first few years of their marriage, often referencing employment difficulties during the Depression. Other correspondence includes letters to and from Francis Clark, Jr. during his time aboard the USS Abiity in the early 1960s. There are a number of Civil War letters from members of the Read family as well. Also included are notes, copies, photographs, legal documents, and narratives.

This collection consists of a variety of materials donated by the Chaffin family concerning the academic and professional lives of Dr. Emory Chaffin and his son Verner Chaffin. The majority of the materials detail the varied studies of Verner spanning from his high school and college graduations to materials collected as he attempted to learn Japanese after his enrollment in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and materials collected during his time in Japan. The collection also contains materials related to Dr. Emory Chaffin's medical practice and licensing and his membership in the Freemasons. In addition, there are several large posters (Russian Propaganda and reproductions of watercolors depicting battle scenes recreated in Paramount's motion picture "Wake Island"). Included are an early 20th century teacher's grade book, plaques showing various Georgia colleges, a picture of a 1960s DAR banquet in Washington, D.C., and a press release detailing an architecture exhibition at Georgia Tech.

Eaton, Haverhill, Massachusetts; United States War-Savings Certificate issued to Callie Sheppard, Greensboro, North Carolina, 1918; and an explanatory letter addressed to the University of Georgia Library, dated May 20, 1986, from Sgt. Joseph W. Reid.

Playbills for the Theater an der Wien (Vienna, Austria) and Theater in der Leopoldstat (Vienna, Austria) under the directorship of Karl Carl [Bernbrunn] from July-December 1843. The playbills document the theaters program including the name of the production and the cast. Some playbills list performances for both theaters. The collection also contains playbills for the Stadttheater in Riga for December 27, 1838, January 12, 1839, and February 21, 1840. These playbills are all combined into one bound book.

Some diary entries may have been written by Hugh L. Long, of the same unit. The collection also contains papers relating to reunions of the 15th Ohio dating 1900-1904.

Collection includes letters from George D. Tidwell, an Air Force training officer at the Arctic Survival School, to his first wife Air Force nurse Lt. Violet Jackson. Tidwell's letters describe life at the school, his varying duties, his frustrations with those in command, and his affections towards Jackson. In addition are three photograph albums containing a total of six-hundred and twenty photographs. The first two albums belong to Lt. Jackson and document her service in the 3700th Station Medical Squadron at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas as well as her tour in Europe and her time at the Macon Hospital School of Nursing in Georgia. The last photo album belongs to Lt. Jackson's second husband Clay Kemp. Kemp's album details his time at the USNAB Agana on Guam where he worked as a Navy surgical assistant. Also included two U.S. Air Force telegrams, Lt. Jackson's U.S. Army Medical Field Service course certificate, an Air Force Reserve inventory questionnaire, Air Force Reserve qualification paperwork, and Stephen Tidwell Baptism certification.

A linear scale is shown in this bottom portion, but corresponding unit of measurement is not given; An Indian holding a flowered branch, possums, two birds, a "six foot long" snake, a flying fish, and a squirrel on a tree trunk are pictured in the bottom section of the map; One of 50 copies printed from an original copperplate uncovered at Oxford amongst a collection of plates given to them in 1755 by Richard Rawlinson. The plate has Roman numeral II (two) in upper right corner.
