The collection consists of a print of Dr. Louis Moore's lithograph of the University of Georgia, which may have served as
the basis for the better known and more stylized "Gleason's Pictorial of May 13, 1854." Unfortunately time has been harsh
with the lithograph and it was trimmed to fit into a smaller frame, obliterating the name of the company producing the print
and the name of the artist. Illustrations using this print appear in older issues of the Georgia Alumni Record, so it is hoped
that at least one other and better preserved copy still exists somewhere. This copy, however, has additional noteworthy ties
to the University. It comes from "Tockwotton", the home of Louis Moore.

Most of this collection consists of materials related to the important 1954 expedition to Eniwetok Atoll taken by Dr. Eugene
Odum and his brother, Dr. Howard Odum. Dr. Odum's biographer, Dr. Betty Jean Craige, wrote about the expedition in "A Tribute
to Eugene P. Odum" in the University of Georgia's Research Magazine in the summer of 2002: "Because he himself had focused
primarily on the biological sciences, Gene appreciated opportunities to collaborate with his younger brother Howard Thomas
Odum, who had studied the physical sciences. After spending the summer of 1954 doing research together on the coral reefs
of the Eniwetok Atoll, the young ecologists showed in an award-winning paper that symbiosis maintained an equilibrium between
corals and algae. Gene came to believe that symbiosis worked similarly in social systems: that interdependence leads to cooperation
and hence to social stability. ...The paper, "Trophic Structure and Productivity of a Windward Coral Reef Community on Eniwetok
Atoll," published in Ecological Monographs in 1955, won the Mercer Award from the Ecological Society of America in 1956."
Other research-related materials are included in the collection, including a set of plant specimens collected in Clarke County
in relation to the class Ecology 353.

The collection includes papers found among the papers of J. Aubrey Smith (collection UGA 08-007) which were transferred from
the University of Georgia Walter J. Brown Media Archive to the University Archives in 2008. Harry Brown recorded an account
of his life and career, aided by his friends, Rosslyn Smith and her husband, University of Georgia Agricultural Extension
film maker, J. Aubrey Smith. Judging from a note enclosed with the tape cassettes, it appears that Ms. Smith interviewed Brown
and used the lengthy taped interview to develop the typed text for his approval. Brown covers events in his life and his perspective
on agricultural life in the first half of the 20th century. He also discusses the operations of the many government operations
in which he played a role. In addition to a finished manuscript of his memoir, this collection includes early drafts and outlines,
notes, correspondence and both tapes of the interview with Brown and a transcript of the tapes.
