Collection consists of one letter written by Charles J. Oliver, a chaplain in the Confederate army, to his mother from his station in Raccoon Ford, Virginia. Although undated, the letter is believed to be from 1864 because this was the only time during the Civil War that the Troup Artillery was stationed at Raccoon Ford. In the letter, Oliver writes about missing home, daily activities, and the his duties as chaplain of his unit.

Of particular interest is a list of medicines and hospital stores received at Thunderbolt Battery, Dr. Duncan's Oath of Pardon, and a request for travel to Europe in 1865. Goggans wrote from camps in Richmond, Fredericksburg, James River, Cumberland Gap, Camp Jackson (Martinsburg), and Smithfield in Virginia; Milledgeville and Augusta, Georgia; and Meridian, Mississippi. Also contained in the collection is a letter from J. B. Walton to the General Commander, U.S. Forces at Savannah, Georgia, and Confederate civilian letters. Transcriptions of the letters are also included (2003).

He writes that he gets enough to eat but needs clothes. He states he went to Maryland and Pennsylvania, but believes the fighting at Petersburg may end the war. He mentions his commanders, Capt. Henry H. Whitfield and Lt. Capt. John Pate several times.

The collection consists of correspondence written by Francis Bickett to his wife Isabella, March 1861-New Year 1865. Correspondences are dated St. Martin and Camp Dennison, Ohio; Virginia, Vicksburg and Camp Sherman, Mississippi; Larkinsville, Alabama; Cleveland, Tennessee; and East Point, Vining's Station, and Savannah, Georgia. Bickett describes marches, battles, rumors, positions, campaigns, and "a blockade runner that came into port." Excerpt from a letter dated February 8, 1864: "I will not build battles in the air."

Also included in the collection are a carte de visite of Andrew Taft in his uniform, his watch fob, and 2 ribbons from the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR).

This collection contains approximately 40 wartime letters written by the Blasingame family, including Confederate soldiers with the 54th Georgia Infantry. Civil War letters originate from the front lines in Richmond, Virginia, and Savannah, Atlanta, Fort Macon, and Marrieta, Georgia. This grouping includes a partly-printed parole for John S. Blasingame out of Macon, 1865, in which Blasingame is sworn under oath not to bear arms against the United States of America, give any information, or do any military duty whatsoever until regularly exchanged as a prisoner of war. Other materials in the collection include family correspondence from 1893-1894 and 1909 and 2 small photographs.

Adams and Perniner Harris Adams; the reproduction of a love letter Jessie wrote to Perniner, Madison County, Georgia; and miscellaneous documents including two newspaper clippings regarding Dewey Adams, one lean dated 1873, and an Alliance Warehouse Co. stock certificate.
