George D. Forbes enlisted in the 160th New York Infantry, U.S. Army on August 30, 1862, and mustered out at Savannah, Georgia in 1865.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of a diary of George D. Forbes from January 1-November 12, 1865, detailing events from Summit Point, Camp Babcock and Stevenson's Station, Virginia; and Savannah and Hawkinsville, Georgia. He describes the weather, rumors, orders, positions, and administrative duties.
