One letter, dated January 31, 1887 to Howell Cobb, Jr. from Burton Harrison, discusses exiled Southerners living in Europe, meeting Jefferson Davis, and the improbability of Davis being brought to trial.

The collection consists of two notebooks containing writings of John Jones Gresham. The larger volume contains orations delivered at exhibitions and events at the University of Georgia (1830-1833). Reversing the book, Gresham wrote Moot questions, notes, and accounts of money received and paid out (1835). The smaller volume includes Gresham's valedictory speech delivered at his graduation from the University of Georgia in 1833 (which is also included in the larger volume).
