The collection consists of the papers of B.F.A. Saylor and family from 1878-1930. The papers consist primarily of correspondence relating to Saylor's involvement in the creation and promotion of various businesses including the Dixie Bauxite Company, Rome Petroleum and Iron Company, Standard Turpentine and Wood Pulp Company, and the Gulf States Portland Cement Company. Other family members represented in the collection include his wife, Adelaide Baltzelle Saylor and their children Harry, Preston, and Blanche.

The collection consists of personal papers of E. Merton Coulter from 1898-1981. The papers include correspondence, clippings, diaries, financial records (1920-1977), lecture notes, student papers, grade books (1914-1958), and writings of others, as well as printed material, photographs, and slides pertaining to Georgia or Coulter's travels abroad. The correspondence (1898-1981) includes carbons (1946-1979) of Coulter's outgoing letters and incoming correspondence to Coulter from scholars, publishers, and former students. The correspondence reflects Coulter's activities at the University of Georgia (1919-1958); the publication of his books and articles; his activities with the American Historical Association, the Southern Historical Association, and the Georgia Civil War Centennial Commission; and his association with various historians. The most extensive group of correspondence (1929-1965) is with Roland M. Harper of the University of Alabama.

The collection includes a series of eighteen personal letters from Herman Talmadge to the Honorable Moses Leff, ranging from January 8, 1964 to October 15, 1980. The letters consist of thank you notes for Leff's attendance at Talmadge's birthdays, as well as an announcement of a marriage in the Leff family. One letter from 1969 discusses H.R. 10567, which proposed inscribing "Justice," "Mercy," and "Humility" on the one dollar bill.

The Athens League of Women Voters (ALWV) Records consist of meeting minutes, agendas, correspondence, clippings, photographs, scrapbooks, and membership information documenting league activities from 1940 to 2006. Other files in this collection include publications such as annual political directories listing public officials and municipal services in the Athens-Clarke County area. The collection also has materials studied by the league regarding local, state, and national issues, including action studies, political studies, documents related to pending legislation, as well ass voter education information and candidate questionnaires. Also included are files from the League of Women Voters of Georgia, the National League, and other regional leagues.

The collection consists of clippings, printed material, manuscripts, photographs, correspondence, and ephemera documenting a broad range of events, activities, people, and places in the state of Georgia from the earliest American Indian settlements through the early 1980s and, specifically, the history of senators in Georgia through the late 1970s. Drafts and research materials for Josephine Mellichamp's book, Senators from Georgia, provide an abundance of information on the careers of Georgia senators. The drafts of "Georgia Heritage" contained in these papers may be the only extant copies of the manuscript since the material was never published. The collection also contains a small collection of printed works.
