This collection consists of office records, media coverage, photographs, audiovisual recordings, and case files created and maintained by the Chatahoochee Riverkeeper organization. It specifically covers water supply issues, environmental conditions along the Chattahoochee River, the Fowler and Shakerag water reclamation facilities in Forsyth County, the F. Wayne Hill Water Resources Center in Gwinnett County, instream flow protection at Georgia Power's Plant Wansley, and City of Atlanta public works projects. The records also include case files and court documents from a number of civil actions, including Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper v. City of Atlanta and Lake Lanier Association v. Forsyth County. Finally, the media books found in this collection contain a large number of newspaper clippings and other print media coverage of Chatahoochee Riverkeeper's activities.

Chattahoochee Riverkeeper (formerly the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper) was established in 1994 with the mission of protecting and preserving the Chattahoochee River and raising awareness of the threats to the ecological health of the river, lakes, tributaries, and watershed. As of 2023, it consists of 10,000 members located throughout the Chattahoochee watershed.

The collection follows the numbering and arrangement established by Chattahoochee Riverkeeper prior to donation. Boxes are labled with a general indication of their contents--these labels are listed in the finding aid inventory for ease of searching. All box contents have been left as-is, pending further preservation actions by the archivists.
