This collection contains items related to African American businesses, churches, schools, and leaders in the Middle Georgia area. The bulk of the collection is comprised of photographs and includes several of the funeral of Dr. Thomas H. Brewer, a civil rights activist murdered in Columbus, Georgia in 1956.

The collection consists of 17 photograph albums, two scrapbooks and a cross-stitched photograph album cover. Although there are photographs dating back to the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, most of the materials date from the 1980s and 1990s with one scrapbook from 2008. The pictures feature scenes of such things as training activities, ceremonies and social clubs.

The Richard B. Russell, Jr. Collection, Subgroup C, Series IV. Early Office reflects Russell's first years as a United States senator and reveals him as a strong supporter of New Deal legislation. Some gubernatorial papers were transferred to Russell's senate office and are found in this series. This series contains correspondence with some printed materials and is incomplete. There are few files documenting Russell's office during the first eleven years, especially from 1938 to 1943, the main series for this time period are Early Office, Political, Political Patronage, Personal, and a few files in General. Any additional non-textual materials originally filed with papers were removed for preservation purposes and improved access. These materials include photographs, audiovisual items, scrapbooks, vertical files, memorabilia, and books.

The collection consists of A Georgia Boy with Stonewall Jackson typescripts by Aurelia Austin. Additional papers include a diary, genealogy of the Verner-Varner families, typewritten correspondence, miscellaneous notes, photocopies of clippings, and negatives. Negatives appear to depict Stonewall Jackson and George Washington.

Curtis Alton Beall papers, 1940-2013

This collection contains Beall's 2006 book, Memoirs of a Marine Dawg: From Rose Bowl to Pacific Theater, the proceeds of which were donated to benefit UGA cheerleader expenses. Additional materials include Beall's 1947 UGA diploma along with trophies, plaques, and certificates. The collection also holds photographs, correspondence, and mixed media dating from the 1940s through 2012. Articles of clothing include two UGA rat caps, a cheerleading sweater, an "X" Club jacket, a World War II era Pith Helmet, Marine uniforms, and letter sweaters from Duke, Middle Georgia College, and Dublin High School.
