The Reflections on Georgia Politics Oral History Collection consists of interviews with politically prominent Georgians conducted by Bob Short since 2007. Interviewees include former governors, members of both the U.S. and Georgia Congresses, secretaries of state, lobbyists, journalists, lawyers, activists, and relatives of prominent politicians. Included with these oral histories are a few public programs recorded at Young Harris College in 2006-2007. Most interviews were recorded in the homes and offices of interviewees or in the Bob Short Oral History Studio at the University of Georgia. The conversations cover many topics at the intersection of politics and public life in modern Georgia, with a particular strength in gubernatorial contests, the Civil Rights movement, reapportionment, the development of Atlanta, the rise of the Republican party in Georgia, political journalism, and the interaction between religion and politics.

The Athens Music Project Oral History Collection is part of the Athens Music Project (AMP), a Willson Center for Humanities and Arts research cluster co-directed by Jean Kidula and Susan Thomas. Interviews in this collection document the development of Athens as a breeding ground for multiple musical communities--the most prominent of them being the Southern independent rock scene. Other areas to be documented include a variety of African-American musical traditions, hip-hop, jazz, bluegrass, folk music traditions, Latin music, new music and conceptual sound art, classical music, and musical theater, and AthFest.

The Two-Party Georgia Oral History Project documents how the Georgia Republican Party grew from a small grassroots party during an era of Democratic dominance into the state's premiere political organization and governing party over the course of the late-twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. Interview participants represent current and former Republican and Democratic political figures who were active contributors or commenters on this transformation between 1952-2016, with a primary focus on the years post-1974.The collection documents the personal experiences and insights of the candidates, officeholders, activists, organizers, strategists, and analysts who participated in those key campaigns, intraparty conflicts, policy debates, and legislative battles. The collection consists of the papers of Mack F. Mattingly from 1956 to 2023, including correspondence, clippings, press releases, speeches, printed materials, photographs, audiotapes, and videotapes. The press files include mainly speeches, press releases, and clippings. Records relating to office administration contain telelphone logs, appointment books, schedule books, guest books, accepted and declined invitations files, files of office staff, and general files that consist of weekly and monthly reports from regional representatives in Georgia. The legislative files include subject files pertaining to legislation being considered by Congress, bill files, Mattingly's voting records from 1981 through 1987, and his personal legislative files, which contain legislative topics of particular interest to the Senator. These materials document Mattingly's work on legislation relating to the line-item veto, anti-drug measures, tax policy, trade policy, agriculture policy, and the conservative economic and federal defense budget policy. Of particular interest are records relating to Mattingly's work as chair of the Subcommittee on Military Construction Appropriations, which included aid to the "Contras" in Nicaragua, his tenure on the Ethics Committee while it investigated the ABSCAM bribery scandal, and legislation that reduced expenditures on consultants and studies by the government. The records of the constituent services staff consist primarily of issue correspondence containing information on constituents' views and questions about current events or public issues. The scrapbooks (1979-1985) were compiled by the Senator's family and staff which record highlights of the Senator's political career and campaigns. Also included are journals and letters written by Carolyn Mattingly.

Papers document Judge Morgan's thirty-five-year judicial career with the United States District Court, 1961-1968, and the United States Fifth and Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, 1968-1996. Includes case files (typically opinions, briefs, judicial memoranda, reports, administrative forms and correspondence), dockets, bench books, case indexes, correspondence, printed opinions, committee files, charge books and notes, newsclippings, photographs, and maps. Of note are Judge Morgan's files relating to highly publicized cases, such as Wallace Butts v. Curtis Publishing Company, civil rights cases heard in District Court in Georgia and the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits, and materials relating to the split of the Fifth Circuit into the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits in 1981.

The Richard B. Russell, Jr. Collection, Subgroup C, Series X: Civil Rights relates to many aspects of the civil rights issue. Almost all of the files deal with black-white relations in the United States, particularly those involving legislative action during Senator Russell's career in the Senate. Issues, such as the antilynching bill, the Fair Employment Practices Committee, racial integration, and the various civil rights bills from 1948 until 1964, are documented. There are also records related to other topics such as cloture, the literacy voting bill, the poll tax, school prayer, and some subjects which are indirectly related to the race issue. Any additional non-textual materials originally filed with papers were removed for preservation purposes and improved access. These materials include photographs, audiovisual items, scrapbooks, vertical files, memorabilia, and books.
