The collection consists of two diaries of Cyprian Porter Willcox. Entries dating July-September 1848 discuss the French Revolution of 1848; the succeeding Republic government; and military and political issues of Prussia, Germany, Italy and the United States, including slavery. Part of the volume outlines the history of the United States, including the founding of the original colonies and the revolution of 1776. Entries dating April 1852-September 1854 detail Willcox's trip through Europe, including travels in Spain, France, Germany, Denmark, and Switzerland. He discusses time spent in cities and regions including Valencia, Madrid, Cadiz, and Granada, Spain; Marseilles and Paris, France; Munich, Berlin, and Augsburg, Germany; and Copenhagen, Denmark. Entries for the various cities and regions vary in concentration and detail, but often include observations on architecture, the characteristics of the area, accommodations, weather, food, and people. The entry for Madrid includes a lengthy discourse on a bullfight Willcox attended. The second diary contains an inscription, "My father's book of travels in Europe as a young man, Athens, March 19, 1933."

There are also maps of Georgia. Many of the items concern the Civil War, such as a picture of Andersonville prison camp and maps of Sherman's campaign in Georgia.

Other notable correspondence includes filmmaker Dorothy Fadiman, actress Debra Winger, and former White House Press Secretary Bill Moyers. Collection includes extensive files from Barks' career, including early drafts and notes of his first published book of poetry, The Juice, extensive notes on his many Rumi books, and several other published and unpublished works. Notable items include Barks' first published poem The Recuperating in Box 30, and Barks' first Rumi translations in Box 19. Other notable items from the collection include the robes, emblem, and honorary doctorate degree Barks' received from the University of Tehran in 2006, several dream journals he kept from 1972-2008, extensive notes from his travels and appearances across the world, and props from the set of the film Big Bad Love, in which he played a small role as a minister.

The papers include a scrapbook containing clippings documenting Rodgers' ministerial career in New Jersey as well as autographs collected by Rodgers. The collection also consists of items, mainly correspondence, collected by Rodgers including several letters relating to the Revolutionary War, documents pertaining to the Schuyler family, and "A memorial of Rev. Ravaud K. Rodgers, D. D., [Re-printed by the Society's proceedings]." Of particular interest is a letter (dated July 17, 1776) describing the celebration at Fort Monmouth (N.J.) upon the declaration of independence.

The collection consists of four manuscript volumes titled Personal reminiscences, created by William Starr Basinger, dated 1889-1896. The four volumes of handwritten reminiscences include histories of the Basinger and Starr families; involvement of William Elon Basinger in Dade's Battle of the 2nd Seminole War in Florida; going to college at the University of Georgia; and the law profession. Volumes also contain details of Basinger's involvement in the Savannah Volunteer Guards (later the 8th Georgia Battalion) during the American Civil War. Basinger was stationed in Ft. Screven, Savannah, Ft. Boggs and Ft. Wagoner in Charleston, and near Richmond, VA, where he was captured and sent to prison on Johnson's Island, OH. Basinger also discusses his activities after the war including his move to Dahlonega, Georgia and his presidency at the North Georgia Agricultural College. The fifth volume in the collections, Savannah Volunteer Guards, is a composite typescript, taken in part from Basinger's Personal reminiscences.

The collection consists of papers pertaining to the family and decedents of the Oliver Hillhouse Prince from 1785-1919. A considerable number of documents focus on Oliver Hillhouse Prince, Jr., including his interest in the genealogy of the Prince family and documents relating to his service in Cobb's Legion during the Civil War. Correspondence is written by or addressed to Abraham Baldwin, Mrs. Martha Price, Martha J. Jackson, Dr. H. Jackson, and John B. Lamar. Of particular interest is a parody of a court case at the Honorable Mouse-Owlry court, in Bibb County, where Billy Beeswax of Honey Comb Hall is petitioning that Peter Pushroot pays him the 400 bushels of potatoes he is owed. The collection also includes wills of Oliver H. Prince, Henry Jackson, Joseph Webber; and a scrapbook containing mostly printed pictures and newspaper clippings relating to Georgia political matters and deaths of Prince family members and notable Athenians.

The collection consists of papers read at annual meetings of the South Atlantic Modern Language Association between 1960 and 1992. Files for most years also include annual bulletins from the association. SAMLA's yearly meetings include special topic sessions in which scholars focusing in those topics present their research on topics such as: Advanced Writing, American Literature, Folklore, Freshman English, Renaissance English, Medieval English, Restoration and 18th century English, Romantic and Victorian English, Modern English, Teaching Language and Literature, Linguistics, Film Studies, Children's Literature, Comparative Literature, Women's Studies, Irish Studies, Slavic Studies, and Teaching English with Technological Advances. SAMLA also has annual sessions for languages including: Old English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Slavic languages, Asian Languages, Scandinavian languages, Latin, and Italian, among others. Papers on all of these topics and many more can be found within this collection. The earlier years of this collection contain about forty to fifty papers each. This number grows until 1985, which contains over 100 papers. However, it should be noted that this collection does not contain every paper from every SAMLA session, as contributing a paper to this collection was voluntary on the part of the author.
