Correspondents include P.F.C. John Lomax, Cpl. Marian Talmadge, Cpl. Pope Hill, Sgt. Carl Cox, Cpl. Cecil Bentz, Cpl. M.K. Smith, Merritt Whelchel, and Cpl. James Swan. Correspondence concerns a plethora of topics, including duties, respective lives in the Army, and daily routines; and there is discussion of religion and philosophy, as well as many references to the popular culture of the era, i.e. books, actors and movies. Included with some of the letters are clippings from newspapers and magazines.

The collection also includes correspondence from Papa Ames to Nellie dated 1875, and correspondence from Charles Bass to Sarah regarding the death of Albert C. Woodworth in 1905.

The collection consists of letters written almost daily by Sellers to his wife, Mary (b. 1935) who was back home in Pomona and Chino, California. Although mainly love letters, there is some information about the routine of Army camp life. Sellers also tries to advise his young wife on matters such as finances, health and car maintenance. The letters end in May 1954, as Mary plans to move to Georgia to be with her husband. There are also three letters written by servicemen that appear to be unrelated to the Bryant Sellers papers.

The collection consists of letters written by Edward James to his wife Elizabeth Harrell James in Fitzgerald, Georgia, before and after they were married. The letters give details of the camps, towns where he was stationed, his bombardier training, and the bombing missions. He gives descriptive details of the Okinawan people, houses, crops, and typhoons. The letters to his wife are both romantic and sexually explicit. During World War II many of his letters discuss his future plans of owning a farm.
