The collection consists of three letterbooks and one account book of the Denison family. The letterbook of Gideon Denison and his brother, Ezra Denison (1791-1792) contains letters regarding trade business with merchants in Augusta, Ga., Baltimore, Md., Charleston, S.C., London, England, and Philadelphia, Pa. Letters also concern cargo shipments, purchase of ships, and slave trade. The letterbook of Gideon Denison (1797-1799) contains letters describing his voyage to England, the sale of land in North Carolina and Tennessee, Indian treaties, and financial problems. Gideon Denison's account book (1796-1799) contains entries pertaining to the management of Gideon's farm in Havre de Grace, Maryland. Entries regard accounts for free and slave labor; purchases of livestock, slaves, food and clothing; and taxes. Henry Denison's letterbook (1801-1802) contains business letters relating to settling the estates of Ezra and Gideon, as well as personal family correspondence.

The collection consists of correspondence from 1862 to 1870 to Mrs. Joel (Amelia) Chapin of Enfield, Connecticut from friends of J. Leander Chapin regarding his imprisonment and death at Andersonville Prison, Georgia. The letters discuss the hiring of Amelia Johnson in Andersonville to care for the grave and erect a stone. Johnson's letters contain very descriptive comments about the cemetery and stockade. Also in the collection are three documents concerning death benefits paid to Mrs. Chapin for her son's military service. Letters from Leander's friends who describe his character and death are also included.

The collection consists of materials relating to enslaved people and slavery in Georgia. The materials include estate appraisals for the estate of Brittain Smith (1802) and Valentine Hatcher (1812); an inventory of the estate of Valentine Hatcher (1812); and a property list of the estate of Brittain Smith (1802); a bill from Lusk, Lathrop, and Co. documenting items purchased for slaves' use (1834); and a letter (1856) from Linton Stephens in Sparta (Ga.). The appraisals and property list give the enslaved peoples' name and value. The letter (16 Dec. 1856) lists enslaved people Linton has for sale including their price, name, and age and discusses the health of several slaves.

The collection consists of letters between Dr. E. J. Eldridge and his wife, Emma, while he served as a surgeon with the 16th Georgia Infantry Regiment and later with Cobb's Legion from 1861-1865. His letters tell of his duties and they often give descriptions of battles, including Fredericksburg in Virginia, and the Atlanta Campaign (1864). Emma's letters discuss family and political issues.

This collection consists of the correspondence, personal papers, speeches, agricultural material, financial and business documents of Benjamin Franklin Hubert during his 1926-1947 tenure as President of Georgia State College (later Savannah State College), an agricultural college for African Americans in Savannah, Georgia. Some additional documentation is included for Hubert's time as Director of Agriculture and Agriculture Extension at the South Carolina State College; no documentation is available for his time at the Tuskegee Institute, however. Photos, clippings, and ephemera related to the Hubert and the Log Cabin Center are included as well. The correspondence in the collection predominately composed of correspondence between Hubert and his various donors, who provided advice and suggestions for the direction and programs at the Log Cabin Center. Notable donors/supporters included are Eleanor Roosevelt, George Foster Peabody, and Caroline Hazard. There is also some detailed correspondence between Hubert and his sharecroppers, the African-American community, and staff at the college. Benjamin Hubert's personal papers consist of some certificates, Hubert's court cases, recommendations for Hubert, and essays/speeches (most of which concern the history of future of the African-American citizen). The agricultural materials mostly relate to Hubert's work regarding the Association for the Advancement of Negro Country Life and their farming goals for African-American citizens. The financial documents encompass insurance policies; bills from personal expenses, running the college, the Log Cabin Center; and expenses from Hubert's sharecroppers.

The collection consists of illuminated manuscript leaves on vellum from the 13th and late 15th centuries. There are two Book of Hours leaves from France, late 15th century; one Book of Hours leaf from France, circa 1460; one Book of Hours leaf from Italy, 2nd half of 15th century; Bible leaf, Paris, mid-13th century; and Bible leaf, France, 13th century. The mid-13th century Bible leaf contains Tobias chapters V-VIII. There is also a late 12th century manuscript leaf with neumes from a Missal.
