2354 Title:   Lipscomb family photo albums  Requires cookie*
  Creator:   Unknown
  Dates:   1880-1930
  Contents:
The collection consists of five photo albums that include mostly unidentified photographs of the Lipscomb, Rutherford, and Hutchins families. These albums are from the estate of Laura Hutchins Paddock ("Aunt Lollipop"). Before her marriage, her name was Laura Cobb Hutchins. Her mother was Laura Williams Rutherford, and her father was Joshua Cornelius Hutchins. The Rutherford, Lipscomb, and Hutchins families were closely related and very friendly with each other. The photographs within each of the albums often span a wide time period from around the 1870s to the 1930s. Most appear to be from the 1890s to mid-1920s. The images are of numerous people from a variety of families. There are a significant number of photographs of babies and children, which often have the age of the child on the back. A few pictures of caretakers and children do exist. There are also several brides in their wedding gowns. Both men and women are often dressed in formal attire. While some family and group photos are in the collection, the vast majority are formal portraits of individuals or pairs taken by professional photographers across Georgia, most frequently based in Atlanta. While two of the five albums have antique plastic covers, the last two have exquisite, genuine wooden covers. These are in good condition and unique.
