This collection contains a variety of material related to W. Stanton Forbes, including his correspondence, artwork, and writing,
as well as his collection of clippings, diaries, music compositions, official documents, house plans for "Still Waters," photographs,
and other printed materials.
The correspondence consists of letters between 1924 and 2007and are primarily from W. Stanton Forbes, Ellen E. Forbes, Lucy
and Katherine Forbes, Frances Forbes Heyn, and Jean Reti-Forbes. The collection holds a significant amount of World War II
letters between W. Stanton and his first wife, Ellen, covering 1942 to 1945 from W. Stanton's enlistment to his honorable
discharge. The other large portion of the collection is the 1960s and 1970s, when W. Stanton wrote his daughters and sister
almost every day. The official documents consist mainly of legal documents, exhibition programs, passports, military discharge
papers, wills, and memorial service programs of W. Stanton Forbes and his second wife, Jean Reti-Forbes. The writings include
W. Stanton Forbes' original music compositions, short stories, poetry, and longer prose including his Mexico City College
master thesis, illustrated stories for his grandchildren, and a biography of his aunt artist Lucy Stanton. The newspaper clippings
consist of obituaries, articles, and announcements focused on the professional work of W. Stanton Forbes and his loved ones,
including his Mexico City College mentors, his relative Lucy Bates, his aunt Lucy M. Stanton, and Jean Reti-Forbes. Also included
are four volumes notebooks and diaries filled with the creative and personal writings of W. Stanton Forbes and Jean Reti-Forbes
as well as the guestbook from their residence Still Waters.
The art series consists of a copper plate, ink prints, watercolors, pencil sketches, and ink drawings including Forbes' tribal
artwork, often used in conjunction with texts written by his second wife, Jean Reti-Forbes. The photographs are of W. Stanton
Forbes, his exhibitions, his loved ones, and Still Waters.

Series one consists of scrapbook material kept by Leila Mize pertaining to her activities in school and as a teacher and home
demonstration agent. There are documents about the Cooperative Extension Service, genealogical materials on the Telford, Ritchie,
and Tuck families, Moina Michael, Lurline Collier, the Old Greenville Presbyterian Church, S.C., Hebron Presbyterian Church,
and information about her daughter, Jessie Julia Mize. In addition, there are report cards, programs, photographs, and correspondence
chiefly between Leila Mize and Jessie Mize but including a letter from Richard B. Russell to Charles Mize. Series two has
documents concentrating on Jessie Mize. Among other things, there are news clippings, correspondence, photographs, booklets,
a House of Representative Resolution, certificates, diplomas, a memory book, and a sampling of Jessie Mize's publications
along with her G-Book. Additionally, there are notes belong to LG Hardman and a certificate and diploma belonging to Jessie's
father, Charles A. Mize.

The collection consists of genealogy, correspondence, writings, photographs, daguerreotypes, and printed material. The early
correspondence concerns the LeConte, Furman and Carter families. More recent correspondence is of Carolyn Shaw McMillan, a
great granddaughter of Emma Florence LeConte Furman. Much of this correspondence deals with efforts to preserve LeConte-Woodmanston
and to reconstruct the botanical garden. In 1973 the site was placed on the National Register of Historic Places, and of the
original 3,354 acres, 63.8 acres were deeded to the Garden Club of Georgia in 1977. Most of the writings are by Emma Florence
LeConte Furman, who kept diaries for many years, and also wrote of her travels and her family.

his involvement with the Savannah Boxing Commission, Savannah Golf Club, Central of Georgia Railway, and the University of
Georgia Alumni Society. The family correspondence contains letters regarding the Barrow property called the Home Place in
Oglethorpe County, Georgia. There is much emphasis on Savannah, the Wormsloe estate, and Georgia history in both printed material
and photographs. A large section of the financial papers concerns the real estate owned by the Barrows in Savannah and details
the sale, rental, and management of the properties.

The collection consists of correspondence, financial papers, photographs, speeches and writings, and printed material arranged
in alphabetical order by name or subject. Although the bulk of the material concerns Caldwell's career, some are paersonal
and family papers and consist of correspondence with his parents, his brother Alvin, and various aunts, uncles and cousins,
including Hattie Dunlop who apparently suffered from paranoia. The farm papers deal with a house and land in Meriwether County
that had been in the Caldwell family for many years. Caldwell took it over in 1940, made many improvements, and considered
it his legal residence. Boxes 48-50 contain Caldwell's personal financial papers.
Of special interest are the Board of Regents papers; Walter Cocking controversy, Ty Cobb and the Cobb Educational Foundation;
Berry College papers; the Wallace Butts football scandal; and the papers of the colleges and universities in the University
System of Georgia with their various achievements or problems. Correspondents include Omer Clyde Aderhold, Walter Blackstock,
Callaway family (Pine Mountain, Ga.), Lamar Dodd, Stewart Gelders, Hodgson family (Athens, Ga.), Joseph Winthrop Holley, John
Alton Hosch, Lucy Stanley MacArthur, Moina Michael, Jonathan Clark Rogers, Steadman Vincent Sanford, Hughes Spalding, and
Herman Talmadge.
