career.
Papers of Sylvester Smith consists of correspondence, mainly from Smith to his Wife, Mary E. Smith, written from Maryland,
Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, regarding camp life, other soldiers, rumors, troop position, money matters, his wife's
correspondence, and problems coping with his extended absence. Also included are some Smith family letters, financial records
of Sylvester Smith, and the diary of Major James Hart Purdy.
