The related materials include photographs, memorabilia, and a scrapbook. The collection of over 700 unique photographs illustrates the life and career of Congressman Stuckey. Included in the collection are some family photos, but the majority of the prints are from the period when Stuckey was campaigning for the United States Congress from Georgia's Eighth District and activities related to his position as a US Congressman. This series also includes plaques, citations, proclamations, resolutions, and presentation certificates received by Stuckey throughout his political career. The scrapbook includes clippings from newspapers and magazines, including news and feature items. Represented are Stuckey's re-election bid for his U.S. House of Representatives seat and the successful legislation of making Cumberland Island a National Seashore.

These papers document the personal life of Melvin Ernest (M. E.) Thompson, Georgia's first lieutenant governor and participant in the famed "Three Governors Controversy." The collection consists of personal correspondence, certificates and diplomas, history regarding the Thompson and Edenfield families, clippings, campaign speeches and announcements, and Sunday school sermons delivered by M. E. Thompson. Two hundred and nineteen, primarily black-and-white, photographs depict the Thompson family; the dedication of the Little White House at Warm Springs in 1947; Thompson's campaigns; members of the Georgia House of Representatives and Georgia Senate (1947-1948); and the unveiling of Thompson's portrait at the State Capitol. Of particular interest are the six television campaign advertisements featuring Thompson's views about the county unit system, automobile tags, taxation, the state highway system and toll roads, and the integration of Georgia's public schools.

The J.B. Fuqua Public Service Papers detail the political career of self-made businessman and philanthropist, J.B. Fuqua. Fuqua was born and raised in Prince Edward County, Virginia before settling in Augusta, Georgia with his family. His primary business was ownership of WJBF television and radio stations. Fuqua became involved with politics in 1957 when he was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives for Richmond County where he served four terms. During his tenure as a politician, Fuqua was responsible for helping Carl Sanders become elected as governor in 1962 and also served as a member of the Democratic National Convention Committee in 1964. The collection includes papers detailing Fuqua's involvement with the Georgia Democratic Party, photographs, campaign memorabilia, and audiovisual materials.

Fanning, former Vice President of Services at the University of Georgia and namesake of the Fanning Institute located at the University of Georgia. The W. Fred Orr and Fred Orr II Papers consists of papers, clippings, and photographs documenting the activities of W. Fred Orr and his son, Fred Orr II. In particular, the collection includes papers regarding the 1983 case of the GSEA vs. Governor George Busbee, challenging an early pension granted by the trustees of the Employees Retirement System based on Busbee's contention that his constitutional inability to run for re-election was an "involuntary separation" as a state employee. Fred Orr II represented the GSEA in the case. The GSEA was successful in its challenge of Busbee's claim, as well as influenced permanent change in state legislation. The collection also includes certificates, photographs, and clippings detailing the career of Fred Orr II with his involvement with the Walt Russell campaign for Dekalb County Commissioner as well as clippings detailing his own attempt to run for Dekalb County Commissioner in 1970. This collection also includes clippings detailing Orr's role as cross-examiner for the defense team for Mayor Bill Campbell's criminal trial.

The majority of the collection dates from Sorrells' time at UGA. These items include 10 original debates prepared and presented by Sorrells as well as photographs and other artifacts. In addition to materials from his school years, the collection contains such items as a 50th class reunion badge and correspondence with Benjamin E. Mays in regards to Mays' 1968 eulogy at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s funeral. Sorrells wife, Lola Ruth (McLeroy) Sorrells, is also represented in the 'The William Holman Sorrells Papers". Mrs. Sorrells' Normal School diploma and a CD containing scans of her early 20th century "Memory Book" are found in this collection.

The collection consists of numerous photographs, correspondence and publications that help document the long history of the Forestry School and its influence on Georgia's Forestry Industry. Included are materials that range from the earliest days of the Forestry School up through the present day. Also found in this collection are photographs from 1901 that show Native Americans in traditional ceremonial wear, the original design sketches for "Woodsy Owl" and a copy of a signed photograph of Robert D. Farris and President Bush. Many of the documents pertain to the publication of Bob Izlar's book The Centennial History of Forestry in Georgia: A Pictorial Journey. In fact the originals for most of the graphics found in that book are located within this collection.

University Archives obtained these materials from Dean Tate's son, Jeff Tate of Athens Georgia. Much of the collection was removed for preservation from two scrapbooks assembled after Tate's death by his wife, the late Susan Frances Barrow Tate (1908-2003). Along with photographs documenting Tate and his family there are views of the University and University activities, materials related to University Chancellor David C. Barrow and Dean Tate's track shoes from his record setting days as a student.
