Bradford communicates his desire to have a commission in the military service to participate in operation of the army in Mexico. He requests Haralson's aid in hopes of being brought to President James K. Polk's attention. Haralson appends a note to President Polk forwarding the request, but states that he does not know Bradford well enough to recommend him.

The collection consists of correspondence, photographs and portraits, writings, and artifacts. In his letters to May Nicholson (nicknamed Midget), Donald Harries (nicknamed Rabbit) describes his pilot training as he progessses from learning to start a plane, take off, land, and finally fly cross country. The only letter from May is in 1946 when Donald writes that he is engaged to Sally in Duluth. There are photographs of May, portraits of May and her brother Homer as children, and one photograph presumably of Donald. The writings are notes on index cards about a thwarted love story between a girl and a pre-flight student. The story is apparently written hy May, but the author is listed as Dearing Mays. Artifacts are a Navy pin and bracelet inside a wooden box from Kamp Kahlert in Maryland, where May was a summer counselor.

The collection consists of letters written in German by Hans Korff, a set of stamps, envelopes, and a poster. The letters were sent by Korff to his family while he was held as a prisoner of war in France during the First World War. The stamps in the collection are mounted to show the hyperinflation in the Weimar Republic in the early 1920s. The envelopes contained correspondence between Korff while he was living in Mexico and his family back in Germany. The envelopes mailed post-WWII show British and American censor marks. The poster displays a quote by Friedrich Ludwig Jahn, a German nationalist who was seen as an ideological forebear to Nazism.

Consists of a letter written by Charles S. Dickinson, an inventor from Cleveland, Ohio, to Governor Joseph E. Brown of Georgia regarding a new centrifugal machine gun as well as a "steam wagon" Dickinson had invented for use in combat. Dickinson offered his inventions to the Confederate military and even suggested he visit Georgia and build his machines for military service. The second page of the letter includes two newspaper clippings covering the gun from The Plain Dealer in Cleveland, Ohio and Capital City Fact in Columbus, Ohio.
