Historical Note

The Democratic National Convention of 1912 took place in Baltimore, Maryland and named then Governor of New Jersey Woodrow Wilson the party's candidate for President of the United States.

Lawrence James Cooper, Sr. (1871-1965) was a banker from Waycross, Georgia.

Scope and Content

The collections consists of one letter from Woodrow Wilson to L.J. Cooper, a national delegate to the Democratic Convention of 1912 stating his appreciation for Mr. Cooper's part in unifying the party in his area. The letter is typed on Wilson's Sea Grit, N.J. lettehead. Included is one delegate's pass to the convention in Baltimore on June 25.
