Abstract Or Scope:

The collection consists of photographs taken by the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War I. The photographs, undated, contain captions, and portray American soldiers, German prisoners-of-war; and observation balloons, in the Forest of Argonne, Saint-Mihiel, and an American military hospital in Aix-les-Bains. Some people identified include U.S. Secretary of War, Newton D. Baker, Major General B. B. Buck, of the American Expeditionary Forces in France, Major General Adelbert Cronkhite and Chief of Staff Colonel William H. Waldron.

It likely dates to around 1880, as Wilson operated under a slightly different name later in the century. The photograph by M. Edward Wilson depicts soldiers standing in a line. M. Edward Wilson operated around 1900, so the photograph may depict soldiers training for the Spanish American war.

This collection contains a playbill advertising "Love In A Village" and "The Author" for December 11, 1790 by Theatre Royal, Covent Garden in London. The playbill notes that the performances were given "by desire of the Cherokee Chiefs" referring to a delegation of several Cherokee and Creek men led by William Augustus Bowles who traveled to England to seek military support for a proposed separate Native American state, the Nation of Muskogee, on land in Florida belonging to Spain and the United States.
