The collection consists of a photo album compiled by Mortimer Clasgens. Photographs are captioned, and chronicle Clasgens' time at Camp Karb (Columbus, Ohio, state fairgrounds), Camp Sheridan (outside Montgomery, Alabama), France and Belgium (1917-1918). Photographs depict soldiers at ease, camp life, and civilian scenes around Montgomery. The album includes pictures of family, newspaper clippings, three photos of Ruth Law in an airplane doing aerobatics, and a printed memoriam of Mortimer W. Clasgens.

A handwritten speech delivered by Moses Waddel to his graduating senior class at the University of Georgia on August 7, 1822. Dr. Waddel wrote: "...before you pass the threshold of public life, I would suggest to you a few rules, the observance of which will infallibly conduce to your public usefulness and personal happiness...make daily improvements in the acquisition of useful knowledge...in order to attain eminence in every useful and laudable pursuit, diligence and industrious application are absolutely necessary...punctilious attention to the fulfilment of promise... To respect and desire the good opinion of our fellow men is a duty incumbent upon all...your Creator requires your supreme affection, your reverential homage, and your filial confidence."

Abstract Or Scope:

The Sheet and Manuscript Music consist of published sheet music and music manuscripts collected by Olin Downes from approximately 1877-1946. The manuscripts include proofs; advance copies; and printed music of symphonic scores, operatic scores, sheet music for piano; and original handwritten manuscripts of songs by Georgia Gossler (most of which can be found in box 1). Box 1 also incudes a short handwritten score by Richard Wagner from 1877. Many of the items were printed outside of the United States; Russian and Finnish music are highlighted.

The Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Oral History Project is a community collaboration initiated in 2020 by the Mt. Pleasant History Committee and the Russell Library, as part of the Athens, Georgia African American Oral History Initiative, to collect and preserve the modern history of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and its members, and to document the history of the Brooklyn and surrounding neighborhoods now located near Hawthorne Ave. Mount Pleasant Baptist Church is a historically Black Baptist church in Athens, Georgia founded in 1870.
