The collection consists of one letter sent by Leonidas Watkins Walton (1853-1894) to his mother, Evelina S. Walton, on September 16, 1844. Leonidas writes of his travels through Georgia having just returned to Canton after travelling to Clarkesville, Ellijay, and Tallulah Falls. The letter is addressed to Evelina in Augusta, Georgia.

The collection consists of one letter, dated October 13, 1827, written by Thomasson de Lamassée in Savannah, Georgia to the Superintendents for Public Health at Marseilles. He describes the local conditions surrounding the yellow fever outbreak in the Savannah area, including the lack of precautions by citizens, poor ventilation in homes, and the lack of monitoring of the disease by authorities. He indicates that he has shared with local doctors the idea that the disease is the result of local conditions, and not contagious.

The collection consists of one letter written by William J. A. Bradford in Davenport, Iowa, to Hugh Anderson Haralson, a representative in the Georgia General Assembly. Bradford communicates his desire to have a commission in the military service to participate in operation of the army in Mexico. He requests Haralson's aid in hopes of being brought to President James K. Polk's attention. Haralson appends a note to President Polk forwarding the request, but states that he does not know Bradford well enough to recommend him.
