The collection consists of a typescript titled Okefenokee Swamp by John M. Hopkins, and two typewritten letters to John M. Hopkins, Waycross, Georgia, from Lucien Harris, dated March 25 and July 31, 1947, regarding publication of Hopkins' Okefenokee report, and alligator pictures. The collection also includes photocopies of a map of Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, and copies of photographs used in Hopkins' book.

The collection consists of one letter: dated Milledgeville near Augusta, July 24, 1802, to General Samuel Smith, Baltimore, signed "John Milledge," regarding Smith's land speculation interests in Georgia, and an agreement made with the United States Congress and Georgia concerning Western land and treaties made with the Creek Indians for over a million acres of land including the fork of Oconee and Ocmulgee counties.

The collection consists of a letter from Senator John Milledge, Philadelphia (Pa.) to Sheftall Sheftall, Savannah (Ga.) on February 26, 1796. Milledge discusses the status of Mordecai Sheftall's claim before Congress, the speech of Edward Livingston on British indignities to American seaman, the Virginia Resolutions, the treaties with Algeria and Spain, canal lottery tickets for Sheftall, and General James Jackson.

The collection consists of one letter: dated Secretary's Office, October 21, 1791, to Governor Edward Telfair concerning a manuscript book belonging to Chatham County's office of probate which had been removed from the state in the late war.

The collection consists of correspondence to John M. Scott from 1853-1856. Correspondence pertains to business matters (requests for deeds, collection of notes or rent); politics, including information on the American Party; people running for various offices; political favors; and the death of John M. Scott's brother, William.

The collection consists of two letters: dated Athens, Georgia, October 4, 1883, "Dear Father," from "J. M. Slaton," regarding Slaton's living arrangements and dormitories at the University of Georgia (typewritten copy); dated Athens, Georgia, March 7, 1886, "Major W. F. Slaton," signed "John M. Slaton," regarding the University of Georgia (photocopy).

The shop book contains accounts for customers (probably in DeKalb County, Georgia). It lists the customer name, date, cost, and services (such as sharpening a plow or repairing a wagon wheel or garden hoe). The accounts for 1884-1885 concern cotton sales. Also included are a few recipes from newspapers and an 1898 church program for the Mill District Sunday School Association Clifton Church. There are modern day notebook pages taped over some pages in the book. On these are handwritten transcripts of letters from an unidentified father to his son in Savannah, Georgia regarding the sale of enslaved people on a plantation.

This collection consists of one letter from C.W. Finley in Sacramento, California, to John Nettles Harmon in Sumter County, Alabama. The letter discusses the Gold Rush, Finley's journey to California, and the health of him and his family.

The collection consists of two diaries of Reverend John Newton containing entries dating 1781-1790. Newton writes about locations of silver, gold, copper and lead mines; hunting, farming, and family health; and includes some information on Newton's services as a physician and a minister, first in the Carolinas and then in northeast Georgia. The collection also contains loose material relating to Newton's estate and medical accounts and remedies recorded by Dr. Moses Newton.

The collection consists of one typed letter: undated, "Mr. Wilk," signed "John M-," regarding a book Henry Kane, David Ewen and Mercer are debuting in the fall. Mercer agrees to "help in any way," and thanks Wilk for the inclusion of his name "amongst the list of desirables."
