The collection consists of one typed, 67-page notebook of minutes for the meetings of the administrators of the James Monroe Smith estate. The administrators of the estate were Andrew C. Erwin, Nat D. Arnold, L. K. Smith and later James F. Shehane. Topics discussed by the administrators included sale of property, notes held by Smith, indebtedness to Smith, rental property owned by Smith, tax returns, Dunlap Railroad, College Park tenants, stock, and selling the Smithonia Plantation.

The collection consists of one note: dated Wilkes County, Georgia, June 7, 1804, given by James Montfort to Seaborn Jones or bearer for value received, promising to pay the sum of $179.06 1/2 with interest at eight percent, and is signed by Montfort.

The collection consists of one letter: dated Isles of Wight, January 16, 1734, Sir [John Philipps], signed James Oglethorpe. Oglethorpe describes the settling of the Salzburgers in Georgia, and tells of bringing Tomochichi, an Indian chief, and an Indian child the chief claims as his heir, back to England.

The collection consists of the last will and testament of James Pate Sr. of Fayette County, Georgia. Pate divides his estate amongst his wife, Cathy and his children John, Thomas, James, Charles, William, and Seaborn, as well as his son-in-law Squire Posey for the care of his daughter Phoebe Yancey and his other daughters, Frankey Harrison and Ellinney Bland. The will stipulates that all property is to be divided into equal shares amongst the children after his wife has received five dollars, his son James has received three cows, calves and a bed and furniture, and Thomas his son has also received three cows, calves, a bed and furniture.
