One handwritten inquest on the murder of Ed Smith including testimony of coroner W. S. Scott. Smith was an African American man living with his family on the plantation of David B. Hill. He was murdered on the night of January 18, 1875 by a group of men identified as the "South Carolina Tigers".

The Inspector's book dates from 1831 to 1844. It includes listings of construction, and various damages and repairs around Campus. Many of the repairs are centered around student dorms and are a result of student activities. For example, numerous students were fined for broken window panes and one young man wrote all over his room's walls. In addition, another student damaged his dorm when he shot off a gun inside the room.
