The collection consists of one letter: dated Camp, Rome, Georgia, February 9, 1864, to "Mr. W. L. A. Estes," signed "Edwin L. B. Estes," regarding Reasons' reaction to the Emancipation Proclamation, Estes' desire to get his wife out of Tennessee, and treatment of female citizens by the Union Army.

The collection consists of receipts, bills, and correspondence; both incoming to Parsons and his brother George, as well as letter book copies of Edwin's outgoing correspondence. Letters pertain to Edwin's business interests in iron mining in Michigan, shipping, market prices, ship building, and cotton trade, as well as Parsons' involvement with the rebuilding of Atlanta, and funding from former Confederate General B. J. Hill.

Thomas Jones' papers include lists of taxable property (slaves, land, livestock, and equipment); indentures; and receipts for the purchase of slaves (names of enslaved people include Adam, a carpenter, Charles, Randal, John, Betsy, Nancy, Abram, Ann, Eliza, Sam, Ned, Bob, Lucy, Cherry, Nelson, Charlott, Robert, Lindy, and Mary). Letters are from Henry Francis Jones to his sister, and between Edwin T. Davis and Mattie Davis; and regard battles, military strategy, and military life. Papers of E.T. Davis concern Davis's military services, and include diary entries with regard to his service with the Dixie Boys of Company A, 57th Georgia Infantry Regiment. The collection also includes plats, indentures, and writs regarding land in Georgia, mainly Irwin and Thomas counties, and a portrait of Thomas Jones.
