This collection offers a glimpse at the personal and professional life of Ralph Haygood Stephens, former director of the University of Georgia Press (1950-1978). The professional material consists UGA Press and awards/certificates. The UGA Press subseries consists of a small amount of office files that include publishing lists, notes, and newspaper articles concerning the Press and Stephens. Also included are a few biographical sketches and resumes of Stephens', a copy of Who's Who in Publishing, and a bound copy of correspondence from colleagues that Stephens received upon retirement. There are four items in the awards and certificates subseries: a Phi Beta Kappa certificate of recognition and a copy of a resolution presented after Ralph Stephens' death in 1994, a Cobbham Casuals Series signed flyer, and a Dixie Council award plaque.

Russell Family Collection, Record Group A: Ina Dillard Russell, 1855-1953

These papers contain mainly correspondence between Ina Russell and her husband, Richard B. Russell, Sr. and their son, Richard B. Russell, Jr., as well as other family members. The letters exchanged with Judge Russell and Senator Russell frequently contain commentary on political developments nationwide and in Georgia. The collection also includes family scrapbooks, books, newspaper clippings saved by Mrs. Russell, photographs, and a selection of stereo slides. The papers give an in-depth look at the social activities and mores of a large family at the turn of the twentieth century and contain information regarding Mrs. Russell's selection as Georgia's Mother of the Year and her work within the Presbyterian Church.

Abstract Or Scope:
The Talmadge C. DuVall Papers is comprised of papers, photographs, and audiovisual materials which document the career of Tal DuVall as an extension agent and then later on as a director for the Cooperative Extension Service at the University of Georgia. The papers also document his career as a Commissioner for the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government. DuVall became a part of the Cooperative Extension Service in 1956 as a county agent for Carrollton, Georgia. In 1965, he became the county agent for Clarke County and eventually rose to the position of district and then university extension agent. This collection is comprised of papers, photographs, and audiovisual material related to DuVall's careers in Cooperative Extension and the Athens-Clarke County Unification Commission.
