The collection consists of records of the Athens Hardware Company (Athens, Georgia), and its predecessors Childs & Co. and Childs, Nickerson, & Co. from 1876-1929. Includes account ledgers of the Athens Hardware Company, order book for Childs & Co., account ledger of Childs, Nickerson & Co., and letter book of Reuben Nickerson.

The collection consists of four items pertaining to the fifty year reunion of the Class of 1916 of Athens High School: program of events; booklet containing the class roll of 1916, biographical information of graduates, deceased classmates, and lyrics of two Athens High School songs; photograph of the graduating students in 1916; photograph of graduating class who attended the reunion.

This collection contains May (Mae) O. Smoak Grist's and Samuel L. Smoak's school records, ephemera, and photographs from their home schools, the Lucy Cobb Institute, and the University of Georgia, as well as George Smoak's University of Georgia farm plat book.

This collection contains correspondence to and from J.H. Dozier, Georgia State Tax Commissioner, business records and ephemera from the Dozier Lumber Company in Athens, Georgia, later sold and renamed Tanner Lumber Company. Also included are papers and correspondence regarding family real estate holdings Hutcheson Estates and Greenstate, Inc., J. Bryson Tanner Jr. school and U.S. Air Force ROTC papers, family clippings, and photographs of Frank Ritchie during his service in World War II.

The collection consists of a scrapbook of the Key Club of Athens Academy (Athens, Ga.) from 1967-1968. The scrapbook contains letters to and from Alan Campbell (club president), lists of members and officers, photographs of members and events, and newspaper clippings regarding club events.

The collection consists of files and plaques, including the minutes of the meetings and documentation of events and projects undertaken by the Athens Historical Society. Included are photographs, and papers belonging to Sarah H. Moss.

University Archives obtained these materials from Dean Tate's son, Jeff Tate of Athens Georgia. Much of the collection was removed for preservation from two scrapbooks assembled after Tate's death by his wife, the late Susan Frances Barrow Tate (1908-2003). Along with photographs documenting Tate and his family there are views of the University and University activities, materials related to University Chancellor David C. Barrow and Dean Tate's track shoes from his record setting days as a student.

The collection consists of correspondence, receipts, newspaper articles and photographs associated with George Arthur Booth from 1898-1976. Papers regard Athens Industrial Development Corp., Athens Model Sign Ordinance, Retail Merchants' Protective Association, Athens Zoning Ordinances, Retail Merchants Cotton Association, cotton, and University of Georgia, Research Park. Receipts are from businesses in Athens, Georgia. Photographs depict prominent homes in Athens, Georgia, and scenes from the Athens Carnival held in 1900.

The collection consists of three insurance policies: Empire State Insurance Company, Augusta, Georgia, insures Anderson W. Reese's storehouse, signed May 12, 1867; Georgia Home Insurance Company, Columbus, Georgia, insures F. W. Adams' books, furniture and wardrobe in rooms no. 40 & 41 in the west wing of the Newton House, corner of Broad & College, signed June 6, 1868; Virginia Home Insurance Company, Richmond, Virginia, insures F. S. Thompson & Company's 15 bales of cotton, signed February 21, 1871.

Collection includes correspondences of the Athens Klan #5, a Klan summons, a warning letter, receipt stubs, an advertisement for a Klan barbecue, minutes of Klan meetings, membership application form and recommendation card, a Klan hood and sash, and miscellaneous family photographs found with the collection.
