The collection consists of a ledger and minute book kept by the Athenaeum Club located in Athens, Georgia. The treasurer's ledger lists the member's name, date, amount owed, month paid, and amount paid during 1895. The minute book contains the constitution and by-laws, as well as meeting minutes from 1885-1899.

A typescript of Athens: American Guide Series, compiled by the Athens and Augusta units of the Federal Writers' Project (WPA) and incorporates much of the research preformed by the WPA writers in county archives and personal interviews. The typescript has numerous manuscript notations and attempts an historical, social, and economic overview of the Athens community from its beginnings until the date of the research (1935-1938).

The collection consists of two scrapbooks containing photographs, clippings, art work and various other papers. Photographs depict Athens Area Retired Teachers Association members, and Georgia City Council members. Buildings and landmarks depicted in Athens include the double barrel cannon, First A.M.E Church, Thomas Street Fire Station, Morton Building, Phi Gamma Delta House, Taylor-Grady House, Tree that Owns Itself, the University of Georgia's president's house, and the Stephen Upson House. Additional people portrayed in newspaper clippings and photographs include Thomas H. Milner, Jr., M.B. and Maude Morton, Rodney D. Spring, Doug Barnard, Rex Robinson, Michael Thurmond, Herschel Walker, and Scott Woerner.
