The collection consists of clippings and pamphlets regarding the Lucy Cobb Institute, Mildred Lewis Rutherford, the city of Athens, the University of Georgia, the state of Georgia, and the South in general.

Biographical / historical:

The Lucy Cobb Institute, a secondary school for young women in Athens, was founded in 1859 by Thomas R.R. Cobb. The Lucy Cobb Institute is included on the National Register of Historic Places, and is now the administrative home of the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia.
