Abstract Or Scope:
Many individuals in Georgia and elsewhere sought Senator Talmadge's assistance in winning federal appointments or jobs, and materials here reflect his role in this process. Requests for federal judgeships, federal attorneys and assistant attorneys, federal marshals, Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation committee and Georgia-based postmasters. The files were divided by regions-Northern, Middle, and Southern. Nominations were a standard part of the senator's job, as documented in these files.

This collection contains posters and other printed ephemera related to Athen's music scene in the 1980s. Most of the posters advertise performances at Athens' 40 Watt Club Uptown, a music venue renowned for its role in the development of punk rock and for hosting local bands R.E.M. and the B-52's, who went on to gain national fame. Also included are publications relating to music as well as social and political issues of the day.

Abstract Or Scope:

The collection consists of materials documenting various aspects of the unit's history - training, unit actions, causalities, commendations, diaries and recollections. Some soldiers kept personal items from the Army or items they acquired while in service, such as immunization records, post cards, a parachute, iron cross and German flag. There are over 500 photographs, most of which are identified, and copies of campaign maps from the European theatre with unit positions marked and an attached narrative related what action took place in these locations. Following the war, unit reunions have been held at regular intervals and materials from these gatherings are present in the collection. It is anticipated that more material will be added to the collection in the future. Contributors to this collection include George Marshall, James T. Dunn, John W. Talley, and many others.

Some individuals, bands, or groups featured include Elephant 6, Comedians of Comedy, Patton Oswalt, The Olivia Tremor Control, Harvey Milk, Apples in Stereo, Man or Astroman?, Mastodon, and Zach Galifianakis. Issues 1-20 of Chunklet magazine are available in the Georgia Room, with the exception of issue 6 and 16 which are not present.
