The Personal and Family papers consist of personal papers of the Downes and Miles families from 1908-1962. Includes family correspondence, financial records (1916-1962), newspaper clippings, notebooks and engagement books, and some personal effects such as gloves. The bulk of the series is comprised of the family correspondence of Olin Downes (1906-1955), his wife Irene Miles Downes (1936-1946), his mother Louise Courson Downes (1908-1940), his sisters Dorothy Downes Culthe (1909-1956) and Frances Downes Behre (1911-1962), and his daughter Nancy Downes Smith (1922-1955). Also includes correspondence between Irene Miles Downes and her mother Laura M. Miles and her brothers and sisters.
