The collection consists of two letters: dated Albany, Georgia, August 3, 1868, to "Charles Lanman," signed "Nelson Tift," regarding Tift's inability to comply with Lanman's request; dated Albany, April 24, 1869, "My dear mother," signed "Nelson Tift," regarding family and friends. The letter to Tift's mother is written on Address of Hon. Nelson Tift to the Press & People of Georgia. From Albany News, April 23, 1869.
