Scope and content:

The collection consists of records of a series of talks on books and reading sponsored by the University of Georgia Libraries in 1936. Records include posters, notices, lists of people invited and attending, speeches, newspaper articles, and notes concerning the meetings. Guest speakers included Dr. John Wade of the University of Georgia English department, and Dr. W. D. Hooper.

Biographical / historical:

The committee of people responsible for Book Hour included Duncan Burnet, Charlotte Newton, and Elizabeth LaBoone. Duncan Burnet became the Librarian for the University of Georgia Libraries in 1904, and Charlotte Newton was Chief of Acquisitions for the University Libraries.
