This collection consists of two ledger books from the Lamar family and one map of the Lamar and Cobb plantation in Sumter County, Georgia. One ledger contains a record of the estate of Zachariah Lamar that was willed to John Basil Lamar. The other ledger contains accounts and financial records.
- Biographical / historical:

Zachariah Lamar was the father of Mary Ann Lamar Cobb (1818-1889), who later married American politician and Confederate military leader, Howell Cobb. His son John Basil Lamar (1812-1862) served as a Colonel and aide-de-camp to Howell Cobb and died during the Civil War.
