This collection consists of files related to Hamilton McWhorter's business as an attorney in Oglethorpe County, Georgia. Most of the files deal with estates and land deeds; however, there are some files that deal with criminal cases.

Biographical / historical:

Hamilton McWhorter (1878-1963) was an attorney based in Lexington, Georgia. He was the son of Mary Boyd McWhorter and Robert McWhorter. He attended Mercer High School and the Penfield Meson Academy before studying law at the University of Georgia, from which he graduated in 1901. In addition to his career as an attorney, he also served as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives in the 1920s and the president of the Senate in 1933. He is buried in Clark Cemetery in Lexington, Georgia.
