Scope and content:

This collection contains extensive, chronological runs of various college football programs, as well as photos, artifacts, and ephemera concentrated primarily on UGA, and secondarily on the Southeastern Conference, with further historical materials related to the sport as a whole. It also includes a broad selection of Olympic Games programs, photos, artifacts, and ephemera concentrated primarily on the 1996 Atlanta Centennial Olympics, and secondarily on the 1936 Berlin Olympics with particular attention to UGA alumnus Forrest "Spec" Towns. Finally, there is a smaller selection of Political Campaign pamphlets, photos, artifacts, and ephemera.

Biographical / historical:

George Hearn Suddath is an avid collector of UGA, college football, Olympics, and political memorabilia. He is the son of Epp Suddath, co-founder of The Varsity restaurant in Athens.
