This collection consists of one document that outlines instructions for the care and maintenance of William J. McCalley's plantation.

Biographical / historical:

William James McCalley (1817-1877) and his brother Thomas Sanford McCalley migrated to Madison County, Alabama sometime before 1838. Each brother married a daughter of Robert L. Lanford (1769-1841), and inherited Lanford's plantation upon his death.
