This collection contains correspondence, ephemera, and photographs of family, homes, farms, horses and grooms, and events from the life of Olive K. Britt.

Biographical / historical:

Olive Kendrick Britt, DVM (1917-2006) was a pioneer in the field of Equine medicine. Ms. Britt received her degree in veterinary medicine at the University of Georgia in 1959 before starting a lengthy career. She was the first female equine veterinarian in the state of Virginia, and first female member of the Board of Veterinary Medicine of Virginia. Among her many experiences include serving as veterinarian at Meadow Farm caring for race horses including the Triple Crown winner Secretariat.
