Scope and content:

This collection contains Al Hamacher's professional files including reviews, photographs, and programs from the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, as well as photo albums of his 1990 international tour to China. It also includes files regarding the Alliance Professional Actor Intern Program, and his personal acting files.

Biographical / historical:

Al Hamacher is an actor who has appeared in theater, film, television, and radio commercials. His most memorable acting experience was playing the role of Boolie in Driving Miss Daisy for 630 performances in the Alliance Studio Theatre, and the touring production which visited Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia and Shanghai, China. He created and administered the Alliance Professional Actor Intern Program which developed many actors and arts administrators for the community of Atlanta theaters.
