Scope and content:

This collection contains correspondence from World War II Royal Air Force airmen and their families. Also included are photographs, an air badge, and Souther Field yearbook.

Biographical / historical:

Frank and Quenelle Sheffield lived in Americus, Georgia and entertained a group of British pilot cadets who trained at Souther Field with the U.S. Army Air Corps there in 1941. The Sheffields continued to correspond with the pilots and their families after the airmen left for the war in Europe.
