Scope and content:

This collection is comprised of photographs, documentary materials, posters, and promotional material relating to David Zeiger. The collection documents the Atlanta area in the 1990s, with a focus on immigrant communities and spaces. Many of the materials are also related to Zeiger's 1996 documentary film, Displaced in the New South.

Biographical / historical:

David Zeiger (b. 1950) is an American film director, writer and producer. Born in Los Angeles, California, Zeiger moved to Atlanta in the late 1980s, where he worked as a photographer for numerous theaters and museums in the city. During this time, he started documenting the growing immigrant populations in North Georgia. This work culminated in a documentary and exhibit, Displaced in the New South, which went on to receive multiple awards. Zeiger created his production company, Displaced Films, in 1994, and has since directed and produced 13 documentaries, documentary shorts, and 1 feature film in his career.
