Collection includes a photograph album created by Alice Elizabeth Barker with photos of the University of Georgia's campus, Athens, GA, and the 1897 University of Georgia vs. University of Virginia football game in Brisbine Park in Atlanta, GA.

Biographical / historical:

Of special note is a photograph of the 1897 University of Georgia vs. University of Virginia football game in Brisbine Park in Atlanta on October 30, 1897. During this game, Richard Vonalbade 'Von' Gammon, a University of Georgia football player, was killed. 'Von' Gammon remains the only University of Georgia athlete to be killed during or as a direct result of injuries sustained in competition.
