Scope and content:

One playbill of performances at Theatre Royal, Covent Garden announcing Ira Alrdridge's appearance as Othello in Shakespeare's tragedy "Othello". This was Mr. Aldridge's first performance at a major London theatre. Sheridan Knowles's roles in "The Hunchback" and "The Elfin Sprite and the Grim Grey Woman" and Madame Vestris's and Mr. Power's roles in "The Invincibles" also advertised alongside a new unlisted play.

Ira Aldridge (1807-1867) was a famous American born English actor, playwright, and theater manager. Aldridge was best known for his Shakespearean roles on London's stages.
