Background

Biographical / historical:

Grady Candler Pittard, Jr. of Winterville, GA attended the University of Georgia earning his bachelor's degree in 1939 and his law degree in 1949. Pittard practiced law in Athens, GA, served as mayor of Winterville from 1950-1952, state representative for Clarke County from 1951-1952, and judge of Clarke County State Court from 1967 until his death in 1985.

Leita Catellaw Cobb was born in Commerce, GA on October 16, 1936. She was a Sunday School teacher and choir member at the Winterville United Methodist Church for 22 years, then served in the First Presbyterian Church of Athens since 1988. She retired from the University of Georgia School of Social Work after 25 years of service. She died on October 7, 2019 and was preceded in death by three husbands: Robert Cobb of Mount Vernon; Judge Grady Pittard, Jr. of Winterville; and Philip Pardue of Commerce.
