This collection contains one letter from R.F. Crutchfield to his brother and sister written from Proctor's Pointe, South Carolina in April of 1864. The letter describes the dire situation for provisions in camp, as well as possible desertions.
- Biographical / historical:

R.F. Crutchfield served in Company D of the 57th Georgia Infantry Regiment, he was captured in 1863 during the Battle of Vicksburg but soon paroled, then continued serving the Confederate States Army to the war's end.
