The collection consists primarily of correspondence and meeting minutes created during the general operation of the Wormsloe Foundation. Also included are drafts and revisions for a number of Wormsloe Foundation Publications, as well as material related to William Kelso's excavation of Fort Wimberly at Wormsloe Plantation. There is a significant amount of correspondence and printed material from the many arts, science, and education causes to which the Foundation contributes.

Founded in 1951 by Elfrida De Renne Barrow, the Wormsloe Foundation supports the UGA Press's publication of a significant body of work on the history and culture of Georgia and the South as well as the unique natural environments of the Southeast and the pressing need to preserve them. The Wormsloe Foundation also supports initiatives, study, and research associated with the Wormsloe Institute for Environmental History in partnership with the University of Georgia College of Environment & Design.
