The collection consists of a letter, dated March 17, 1875, written by John A. Stevenson in Savannah, Georgia to a relative in Pennsylvania. He recounts the events of his life since leaving Philadelphia in 1840, including his move to Charleston, South Carolina, where he married, to Savannah, where he became a slave trader. Accompanying the letter is a note from H. H. DeLeon from Charleston, SC, June 10, 1890, concerning property he purchased at auction.
