Scope and content:

The collection consists of Frances Bryant Godwin's correspondence, journals, and other personal writings, notes regarding her artistic ventures, as well as genealogical information about the Bryant and Godwin families. Photographs, estate materials, manuscripts, watercolors and sketches are also included.

Biographical / historical:

Frances "Tiny" Bryant Godwin (August 7, 1892- March 1975) studied art first under her father and then at various places in American and Europe. An example of her sculpture is on permanent exhibit at Brookgreen Gardens, South Carolina. She was primarily a sculptor, but also practiced sketching, photography, and watercolors.
