Scope and content:

This collection includes two United States Army discharge papers: one dated April 25, 1862, Horace Weaver, born in Litchfield, Connecticut; and a second for Horace A. Weaver, born in the state of New York, dated June 28, 1865. The 1865 discharge documents Weaver's service as a Private in Company D, 40th Regiment of New York Volunteers, and includes a manuscript notation regarding bounty payment on the verso. Also included are a letter from Horace Weaver (1854), a burial deed for R.A. Weaver for the Birmingham Burying Ground Association, state of Connecticut, (1877), and a tintype photograph of the Weaver family.
